The Japanese Chin
Bred for royalty first in China, then gifted to the Japanese royalty, the Japanese Chin remains true to type to this day. Most behave like they ARE royalty so be prepared to pamper, spoil and be ruled by your little Prince or Princess.
They make lovely pets because of their joyous nature and clean habits. They will greet you every time you walk into a room like you've been gone for months. Tossing their head and either patting their feet on the floor or standing on hind legs to wave at you. They are a naturally clean breed so potty training is a breeze. A litter box can be used for rainy days and is handy for condo dwellers. The Japanese Chin does not like to soil the area in which they live. Exercise is still a requirement however, so a nice brisk walk is always beneficial and a great way to show off your little one. They rarely bark, are highly intelligent and affectionate and will bond strongly to their family.
Japanese Chins range in size from 4 to 10 lbs. Grooming is minimal as the coat does not tangle easily. A nice brushing once a week usually will suffice. They carry no "doggy" odor so a bath is only necessary if the dog becomes soiled from a romp outdoors.
Black/white is the most common color with red/white, lemon/white, and sable/white often occurring in a litter.
I have chosen my breeding foundation carefully from show breeders who not only breed for a sound, healthy Chin, but breed for the betterment of the breed and according to the AKC standard. You will find my pedigrees to be a study of well selected champions who are the finest examples of the breed. If you are looking for a quiet, docile, joyous, intelligent breed to add to your family the Japanese Chin is a fine choice.
